Based in Berlin since 2006. She studied film at the San Francisco Film Institute (U.S.A.) Then back to Mexico to study at the CUEC (Center for Film Studies). She holds a degree as Director of Photography from the DFFB (German TV and Film Academy Berlin). Her degree movie \u201cHagazussa\u201d has screened at several festivals including BFI London and Sitges Film Festival. Her work was awarded with the Michael Ballhaus Prize in 2018. She is co-founder of Retina Fabrik Filmproduktion. Member of the Deutsche Filmakademie and member of the Mexican female DoP's network Apertura. In 2021 Mariel is invited to be part of the AMC (Mexican Society of Cinematographers).<\/p><\/div><\/div><div  class=\"lg-col lg-span-5 lg-push-0 lg-align-top lg-type-text \" ><div
