Julia Kampmann was born in 1984 in Dortmund. She studied cinematography at the University of Applied Science & Arts in Dortmund where she got to shoot documentary films, as well as several music videos and short films. In 2014 she successfully graduated with her short film "Wächter der Spieluhr - Keeper of the Past", which she has also produced and which has won several awards at national and international film festivals. Today she works as a freelance cinematographer for feature films & commercials in Düsseldorf/Cologne. Her latest feature film "Frieda - Coming Home" had its premiere in 2020 at the Snowdance Independent Film Festival in Landsberg am Lech. It also gained international attention by winning “Best Inspirational Film” at the Vegas Movie Awards 2020.
